Hays Daily News

After only two meetings, word has been getting out about our group. Currently we have only been having our meetings in the Hays Kansas Public Library and have not expanded to other western Kansas cities.

Our first meeting, July 12th, consisted of group discussion covering nutrition and other questions commonly asked of vegetarians and vegans. We also got to gather some of the local vegetarians and vegans for a first meeting. This meeting lasted about an hour and was very exciting for my wife and I to meet and talk to people.

This feeling poured over to our second meeting on July 26th. This meeting we put together a vegan cooking demo. We were lucky to not only have new and returning faces, be we also had some staff from the Hays Daily News. The Hays Daily then put us in the Sunday edition with our article getting a photo and page info on the front page contents. On top of that, members of the library videotaped the demo to post on their web site. We are very excited for this use of technology to help us reach other people who may not be able to make the meetings. We want to be a resource for as many people as we can, and with the use of technology, we can hopefully reach many in the rural areas.

Our next meeting will be held on Saturday August 9th. We will be showing Chicken Run and will follow it by a short discussion . Please come and join us for any of our meetings for information and social friendship.
